Many companies save paper, donate to social causes, or make other sustainability-conscious gestures. However, up to 90% of social and environmental impacts are not caused by companies' direct activities, but rather occur in their supply chains. So, if we really want to make a difference, we will need less tokenism and more targeted measures based on empirical data. How can we achieve this? By measuring and evaluating the social, environmental, and economic impacts of business activities.
Impact Measurement and Valuation is an approach that enables employees to make more sustainable decisions and increase transparency for stakeholders. Our recent collaborative studywith Stiftung Arbeit und Umwelt presents various initiatives as well as draft methods for Impact Measurement and Valuation. Learn more about our key results and how to integrate them into daily practice in this article.
WifOR is developing a tool that allows companies to measure and evaluate the social, environmental, and economic impacts along their supply chains. The results enable companies to target hotspots upstream and address them in line with increasing due diligence requirements. Additionally, the results and graphics can be used for sustainability reporting. If you would like to get an insight into how the WifOR Sustainability Impact Tool works, watch my presentation“Measuring and Understanding your Scope 3 Emissions”. The beta version of the tool will go live on July 3 – get in touch with us if you would like tofind out more and sign up for the beta version here.
